By Air .
The area is served by three airports, Bergerac, Toulouse and Bordeaux . Bergerac is the closest being only a 35 / 40 minute drive away. There are flights available from Gatwick, Stanstead, Bristol , Birmingham , Exeter , East Midlands, Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester , Southampton and Edinburgh .

Toulouse airport is about a two hour drive away and the drive from Bordeaux airport takes about 2¼ hours.

Hire cars are available at all three airports.

By Road .
From the channel ports
The excellent French autoroutes make it easy to reach Monpazier from the channel ports especially since the recent completion of a number of autoroutes in the north. We usually take a route which links up with the A20, but from a westerly port such as St Malo it is probably easier to take the A10 in the direction of Bordeaux . The shortest distance by road is from Caen (Ouistreham).

If using the A20 we usually leave the autoroute at Souillac taking the D703 through Sarlat to Siorac-en-Perigord where we turn left onto the D710 as far as Belves where we turn onto the D53 which takes us to Monpazier.

If using the A10 it is simplest to drive to Bordeaux , stay on the autoroute and join the A62. For further directions see “From Bordeaux Airport” below. It is however also possible to take the D936 to Bergerac, but this road is slow. If you choose to follow this route then stay on the D936 turning right on to M21 wich is the road to Bergerac Airport. For further directions see “From Bergerac Airport” below.

From Bergerac Airport .
Turn left onto the N21 out of the airport, turn left onto the D14 signposted Issigeac, drive through Issigeac and at the roundabout take the D14 to Villaréal. At Villaréal follow the “tout directions” signs until you reach the roundabout and follow the D104 signposted Monpazier. Proceed along this road through La Brame, past the cross roads and turn left at the two striped junction posts signposted Gaugeac. Please note that you can't read the sign posts until you have made the turn. Follow the road for about 3 kilometers ignoring any side turnings. You will come to a junction signposted Fontaine de Soubirou, continue straight ahead for about 200 metres, La Fontaine is the last property on the right, where the tarmac ends and a rough track begins, with the name "La Fontaine" prominently displayed in wrought iron.

If you miss the turning off the D104 don't worry, just follow the road into Monpazier and for further directions see “From Monpazier” below.

From Toulouse Airport .
Take the A62 heading north in the direction of Montauban (signposted Paris ). Before reaching Montauban turn onto the A20 (signposted Paris ) and continue north towards Cahors. At junction 58 leave the autoroute and follow the N20 into Cahors until you reach the junction with the D811 (signposted Bergerac). Follow the D811 to Rostassac, turn right onto the D660 and follow it to Monpazier. For further directions see “From Monpazier” below.

From Bordeaux Airport .
Leave the airport and turn south on to A630, proceed to junction 18 and turn onto A62. Proceed to junction 5 and head for Marmand on the D933. Continue through Marmond on the D933 to Miramont-de-Guyenne. At Miramont turn onto D1 signposted Castilliones. At Castilliones follow D2 to Villaréal.

You will come to a junction signposted Fontaine de Soubirou, continue straight ahead for about 200 metres, La Fontaine is on the right.

If you miss the turning off the D104 don't worry, just follow the road into Monpazier and for further directions see “From Monpazier” below.

From Monpazier .
Starting from the main gates of Monpazier, take the Beaumont road. Follow this for a few hundred metres and just past the Citroen garage turn left onto a road signposted “Gaugeac”, be careful, the signpost is partly hidden by a hedge and you will only see it at the last moment. Follow this road to the very end (about 650 metres) where it ends in a T junction. Turn right (signposted Gaugeac), then first left (again signposted Gaugeac, plus some house names, plus “Fontaine de Soubirou”) and first left again (signposted “Fontaine de Soubirou”), La Fontaine is the last property on the right, where the tarmac ends and a rough track begins, with the name "La Fontaine" prominently displayed in wrought iron.
